We had a fantastic Active Schools Week this year despite the weather! On Tuesday, we played some games of soccer. On Wednesday, we had our sports day in the Monivea GAA grounds and got a visit from the ice cream van. On Thursday, we took part in some set dancing and hip hop dancing with Marie and Laura. Finally, on Friday we took part in some tag rugby. The 3rd class boys and girls really enjoyed all of the activities and would like to say a massive 'thank you' to all of the volunteers throughout the week!
Third Class 2024/2025 Mr. Quirke
Seachtain na Gaeilge
Seachtain na
Gaeilge
Bhaineamar
an-taitneamh as Seachtain na Gaeilge i mbliana i rang a 3! Chaitheamar an
tseachtain ag caint as Gaeilge, ag canadh as Gaeilge agus ag sugradh as Gaeilge.
Rinneamar roinnt tráth na gceist faoi Éirinn, rinne muid roinnt ealaíne ag
déanamh seamróige agus léigh muid faoi Thír na nÓg. Do Lá Glás, rinneamar An
Haka Gaelach. Bhí gach éinne ar fheabhas!
We enjoyed Seachtain na Gaeilge this year in 3rd class! We spent the week talking in Irish, singing in Irish and playing in Irish. We did some quizzes about Ireland, we did some art making a shamrock and we read about Tír na nÓg. For Lá Glás, we did An Haka Gaelach. Everybody was excellent!
World Book Day
On the 6th of March we celebrated World Book Day in 3rd class. We began the day by discussing some of our favorite books and what we liked about them. The children then complete a book review focusing on the setting, plot and characters from their stories. After spending some time silent reading, each child gave an oral report on their chosen book explaining some of the key features without giving spoilers!
Talent Show
Well done to all the boys and girls in 3rd class that took part in this years talent show. We had some brilliant dancing, comedy acts and musical performances.
Internet Safety Day 2025
Today we investigated how to be safe online as part of Internet Safety Day. The boys and girls learned about how to use the internet safely and responsibly and the importance of making good choices online. There was a particular focus on this years theme; 'Too Good to Be True?' which explored protecting ourselves from scams online.
Hurling Training
Thanks very much to Ian Murphy from Abbeyknockmoy Hurling club who has been training the 3rd class boys and girls for the last few weeks in the school.
